The objectives and purpose of the Hampden-Sydney Alumni Association are to
promote at all times the general welfare of the College, and to this end
maintain the goodwill of all former students toward the College and their
comradeship toward each other. In carrying out these general purposes, the
Association shall strive at all times to provide and maintain close contact
between the members of this Association and the College, its Trustees, faculty,
and students.
Any person who has been a matriculated student at the
College, or has been a member of the faculty, Board of Trustees, or has been the
recipient of an honorary degree from the College, shall be a member of the
Association unless he specifically requests that he no longer be considered an
alumnus. The Alumni Council, consisting of an elected group of officers, a
representative of the Board of Trustees, and a representative from each local
alumni chapter, shall constitute the governing board of the Association. This
Council shall be vested with full authority to act on behalf of the Association
in all matters.
