We Need Your Help With
Admissions
I'D LIKE TO HELP!
We are looking for men who are energetic and willing to help "spread the
word” about Hampden-Sydney. Your
assistance will enhance our recruiting efforts by helping to encourage students
to visit the campus and apply for admission.
Likewise, you now have an opportunity to ensure the continued success of
our personalized recruiting network, while helping to shape the future of the
College. This is arguably the most
meaningful way to give to your alma
mater. Competition for our top
students is fierce, making the challenge before us a daunting one. However, we are convinced that with the
focused and concentrated support of our alumni, Hampden-Sydney will continue to
reach her goals and fulfill her mission to produce Good Men and Good Citizens.
We have included information on three areas where you will be able to make the
largest impact. Please read the brief descriptions and let us know if you would
be willing to contribute in as many of the areas as possible.
Contact Prospective Students
Throughout the year we have many occasions where we need help contacting
prospective students. These calls can vary in purpose from attempting to
produce applications to yielding candidates who have already been accepted.
Because of this variety, calls are made and letters are written throughout the
year; therefore we are looking for individuals to help throughout the entire
year as well as those who have the ability to contribute more selectively.
Have Prospective Students Contact You
We often have students ask about alumni in their areas. We are trying to
create a database that those students would be able to access so that they could
find and contact alumni close to them. This is an area that would take little
effort on your part and can be a major benefit to our office as well as the
College as a whole. If you would be willing to have students contact you,
please follow the like below to the online sign up form.
Receptions
The admissions office routinely hosts students and their parents at a variety
of locations to build interest in the College. These receptions can be
separated into two main categories: application generation and yield, and they
are held in select areas with high levels of interest for prospective students.
These gatherings have typically been held at the homes of alumni or area
restaurants based on the size of the crowd and the needs of the event. If you
would be willing to contribute to a reception in your area or if you would be
willing to attend an event at your home please let us know! The needs of your
area may not always make having a reception possible, but we hope that you will
not hesitate to let us know of your willingness to help.
College Fairs
Throughout the fall, members of the admissions staff visit High Schools
throughout the country during the day and spend their nights working a table at
a College Fair. Although we are able to make it to many of these events, we are
not able to cover all of the Fairs to which we are invited. Most events allow
an alumni representative in place of a member of the admissions staff to
represent Hampden-Sydney. Below you will find a link detailing what is required
to work a fair as well as another link allowing you to find fairs in your area.
We would greatly appreciate your help in making it to as many of these valuable
events as possible.
